I never planned to be a fiction writer, but this story, titled “Elevator,” literally would not let me sleep until I wrote it down. It’s been published by Construction, a really brilliant literary magazine run by some people who graduated from the nonfiction MFA program at City College.
It’s about a young writer who ends up in an elevator with a famous novelist.
